CHELSEA MANOR

-

So, where are you from?

Michael [Collins, drums] and Ivan [Heenan, bass] are both from Mount Gambier – most notable for the big blue lake – whereas Bianca Hendy [vocals and guitar] stems from Gawler. The best thing about Gawler is that you can leave at any time.

What’s your latest drop?

If you’re feeling kind of deflated and need a pick-me-up, well, let me introduce you to ‘Tide Times’. A fun, energetic array of sounds with a splice of ska and trumpet? Nothing better to get you up and moving.

How would you sell your sound?

You know the yeerks from Animorphs?

Basically our music is like a parasite that makes its way into your ear canal and completely takes over. You’ll find yourself weeks later thinking, “Damn, that Chelsea Manor song is still in my head!”

What are the go-to jams on your tour van playlists?

Scooter. That is all.

In what setting does your music truly come to life?

You know those moments where you have your headphones in, you’re walking and suddenly you feel like you’re a part of the music, like you’re the star in the music video? Those are the moments our music is made for. It’s ideal for getting lost in your own little world.

It’s 2012 and this is Tumblr, what’s on your mood board?

The guitar from FreakyFriday, Shadows Entertainment Complex, Emily The Strange, a pouiser (a shot of port and a quarter of a pineapple Crusier) and a poster for TheReal

Macaw on VHS.

What else should we know about you?

One thing you should know is that like Tinkerbell, if you don’t believe in us, we can’t exist. So thank you for believing in us.
