A widely used spice in Asian cook­ing, the health ben­e­fits of turmeric are count­less in­clud­ing an im­proved abil­ity to di­gest fats, re­duc­ing gas and bloat­ing, de­creased con­ges­tion, and im­proved skin con­di­tions such as eczema, pso­ri­a­sis, and acne. There is also ev­i­dence to sug­gest it pro­vides re­lief from joint pain and swelling. This spice has grown in pop­u­lar­ity in re­cent times and is best used fresh. Grate into smooth­ies, sprin­kle on omelettes, or drink as a tea with gin­ger.
