KEF X300a WIRELESS

-

KEF has released a wireless version of its famous active 300A bookshelf monitors. The new X300A wireless speakers have inbuilt 24-bit/96kHz DACs, dual Class-AB amplifiers and KEF’s renowned Uni-Q co-axial driver, which combines a 130mm diameter magnesium/aluminium alloy bass/midrange driver and a 25mm tweeter on the same chassis. Each bass/midrange driver is powered by a 50-watt Class-AB amplifier, and each tweeter by a 20-watt Class-AB amplifier, to give a claimed peak SPL of 104dB. You can stream music to the KEF X300A Wireless via Airplay or DNLA, with KEF having designed the wireless around Apple’s Mac OS X version 10.6 (or later) and Microsoft’s Windows 7 (or later). Android users should use KEF’s free ‘DMC’ app, available from Google Play, as it allows you to freely swap between different music libraries. ‘ Everything about the X300A wireless digital hi-fi speaker system is designed to make your enjoyment of music easier as well as more intense,’ said Nigel Ng of Advance Audio. ‘ Not least because you can put them anywhere else in your home and stream your music to them via your smartphone or any other mobile device. They are the ideal pair of speakers for an apartment, office, or study/studio and deliver point-source sound that’s spacious, accurate and exquisitely detailed.’ A balance switch on the back of the master speaker allows you to optimise the X300A’s frequency response no matter where you place it—on a desk, against a wall or on a stand—so that it always delivers its rated response of 58Hz to 28kHz ±3dB. Available now, in either gun-metal or white, KEF’s X300A Wireless speakers retail for $1,399 per pair.
