CANOR CD1.10

-

Canor has released its first valve CD player/DAC: the CD1.10, which features this Slovakian company’s premium PCB milling technology. The CD1.10 combines a CD player and a high-resolution 24-bit/192kHz DAC in one chassis. The output of both solidstate digital devices outputs through a valve output stage, whose output is delivered in balanced (via XLR outputs) and unbalanced (via RCA outputs) versions from the rear panel. Canor doesn’t use a single DAC; it instead uses two discrete Burr Brown PCM 1792 24-bit/192kHz devices, one for each channel and provides switchable digital filtering to allow users to fine-tune the sound to suit their preferences and their system. External digital sources can be connected by optical, coaxial or USB 2.0 (asynchronous) interfaces. Internally, the CD 1.10’s circuit boards feature Canor’s own PCB milling technology (trademarked Canor Milling Technology, or CMT) which the company claims improves the sonic performance of any circuitry mounted on it. ‘ The precision removal of specific areas of the circuit board enables the achievement of a very low level of dielectric loss throughout the circuit. In fact, the level achieved is comparable to that of a wire-to-wire connected circuit using expensive cables with air or PTFE dielectric,’ said Zdenek Brezovjak, chief engineer and co-owner at Canor. ‘ In addition, the CD 1.10’s power supply features valve rectification for a purer and more natural sound.’ Edward Tuchinsky, of Fine Audio International, which distributes Canor in Australia, told Australian Hi-Fi Magazine that the Canor CD 1.10 retails for $6,600.
