Audio ReseARch G-seRies
Audio Research has introduced a ‘G-Series’ of vacuum-tube electronics, named in honour of the great astronomer and scientist Galileo Galilei. Audio Research (founded in the US in 1970 by William Zane Johnson) is the world’s oldest continuous manufacturer of vacuum tube electronics and now owned by Italy’s Fine Sounds Group. It has debuted the G-Series with three products. The GSPre valve preamplifier, the GS150 stereo valve amplifier (rated at 150 watts-per-channel) and the first Audio Research product to use the new KT150 output tube. Last but far from least is the GSi75, an integrated amplifier rated with an output of 75-watts per channel that incorporates a DAC and also uses KT150s in its output stage. ‘ Unlike other integrated designs that make performance-sacrificing compromises to fulfil a price-point or form factor, the GSi75 harnesses the power and technologies developed by Audio Research into an authoritative platform to reveal the glorious performance contained in your media, be it digital or analog,’ says Philip Sawyer, of Synergy Audio Visual, which distributes Audio Research in Australia. ‘ True to the Audio Research tradition, all three pieces are handcrafted in Audio Research’s Minnesota facility.’ The exteriors of the G-Series amplifiers were designed by famous Italian designer Livio Cucuzza, who told Australian Hi-Fi Magazine that he’d always admired the design of Audio Research products, and so had taken the elements he’d most admired to offer an updated vision of a timeless icon. ‘ The juxtaposition of finely brushed metal surfaces with the black control areas; symmetry; two-colour knobs; the vacuum tubes left uncovered; the analog look of the meters… all the elements that shape the aesthetic language of the G-Series were “respectfully stolen” from the classic models, then mixed to achieve a new creation,’ he said. ‘ This is my homage to a great American icon.’ For further information, please contact Synergy Audio Visual on (03) 9459 7474 or visit www.synergyaudio.com
