Burson’s Timekeeper amplifier brings highly-quality, high-power ClassAB amplification to the desktop thanks to a stunningly constructed small-footprint chas- sis. Melbourne-based Burson says that its Timekeeper amplifier does not contain a single integrated circuit (‘totally IC-free’ is the company’s boast) so it features fully-discrete circuitry and a completely symmetrical FET input stage, using Elna Silmic 2 and Dale military-grade resistors, and incorporates a 300-watt custom-built low-noise transformer with a full linear power supply with 40,000uF of capacitance in reserve. Burson rates the Timekeeper with a power output of 80-watts per channel into 8Ω both channels driven. However, since Burson also designed the Timekeeper for bridged operation, it can also be operated as a monobloc amplifier, in which mode it’s rated with a power output of 230-watts. ‘ With a Timekeeper amplifier you don’t have to settle for Class-D or Class-T sound or rearrange your living space,’ Burson says on its website. ‘ The Timekeeper is small enough for your desktop and powerful enough for any speaker system with its powerful, meticulously-designed class-AB output stage. When used as a monobloc, the circuitry of the Timekeeper doubles its voltage swing which not only improves macro-dynamics, but also micro-dynamics through its extra power

reserves. In this mode, the Timekeeper will have even the most demanding speakers under its absolute control.’ Burson says it has reduced the Timekeeper’s footprint as far as practical by using solid 6mm-thick CNC-machined aluminium panels that are bolted together with stainless steel fixings. Although the output devices have their own heatsink, and there’s fan-cooling, the enclosure itself also acts as a heatsink to ensure the Timekeeper is totally temperature stable. ‘ Every aspect of its design, every dimension of the case, every joint, every connection and every mounting technique is engineered to perfection,’ says Burson. Current retail pricing is $2,450. For further information, please contact BursonAudio on (03) 9417 3344 or visit the website at www.bursonaudio.com
