-

Definitive Technology has released its BP9000 speaker series, comprising four front-channel models: BP9020 ($2,495), BP9040 ($3,495); BP9060 ($4,495) and BP9080x ($6,995). Also available is an optional A90 height speaker module ($995) for Dolby Atmos and DTS:X compatibility. There are three centre-channels in the series (CS9040, CS9060 and CS9080) and two surrounds (SR9040 and SR9080). Features on selected models in the range include aluminium dome tweeters, integrated powered subwoofers, ‘Intelligent Bass Control’ technology and Def Tech’s ‘Forward-Focused Bipolar technology.’ The A90 module integrates with the BP9020, BP9040, and BP9060 tower speakers for Atmos/DTS:Xm but height functionality is built-into the BP9080X. ‘ The new series is a ground-up redesign of the previous series, the BP8000,’ said Nigel Ng, of Advance Audio Australia, which distributes Definitive Technology in Australia. ‘ Conveying Definitive Technology’s minimalist design philosophy, the BP9000 series is wrapped in premium materials such as brushed natural aluminium top plates that disguise the height module connector port, and features a patented Forward-Focused Bipolar Array that gives total placement flexibility whilst balancing room-filling sound and a precise centre image.’

The BP9040 has a 203mm bass driver and two 203mm passive radiators and claims a frequency response of 22Hz–40kHz. The BP9060 pairs a 254mm bass driver with two 254mm radiators and claims a frequency response of 18Hz–40kHz. The BP9080x claims a frequency response of 16Hz–40kHz and is fitted with a 354mm bass driver and two 354mm passive radiators, plus is the only model that comes with the Atmos module built-in. ‘ The speakers in the new BP9000 series combine an elegant exterior with innovative technology and features,’ said Ng. ‘ Meaning that these sleek speakers will suit any space, be an eye-catching addition to any room and will provide users with an out-of-this-world home audio experience time and time again.’
