Wilson Benesch Resolution
Wilson Benesch’s newest design, the Resolution, is now available in Australia. It’s a seven-driver, three-way floor-standing design in a carbon fibre composite monocoque cabinet. Four of Wilson Benesch’s bespoke ‘Tactic-II’ drivers, which have isotactic polypropylene cones, and are clam-shell mounted to provide isobaric loading, deliver the bass. Two more ‘Tactic-II’ drivers deliver the midrange. These midrange drivers are positioned either side of Wilson Benesch’s silk-carbon hybrid dome ‘semisphere’ tweeter, a configuration Wilson Benesch calls a ‘Troika System.’
‘ Both the Tactic-II dynamic drive units and the Semisphere tweeter are built using powerful exotic neodymium ferrite boron magnets that are assembled within highly engineered, low-profile alloy structures designed to extract maximum power from them,’ said Boris Granovsky, of Absolute HiEnd, who distributes Wilson Benesch in Australia. ‘ The Resolution is capable of producing a wide bandwidth frequency response from 30Hz to 30kHz, whilst remaining transparent and integrated across the band, allowing listeners to suspend belief as they disappear within the wide-open soundscape.’
The Resolution is the latest loudspeaker in Wilson Benesch’s Geometry Series. Designed and engineered in England it measures 1590×520×547mm (HWD) and weighs 90kg. ‘ In the Resolution, by combining carbon composites with metal alloys, Wilson Benesch has engineered one of the stiffest, most highly damped loudspeaker enclosures ever created,’ said Granovsky. ‘ Because every Resolution loudspeaker is handmade to order, each one can be engineered with a range of bespoke high gloss polymers, stunning natural wood veneers and P1 coloured carbon-fibre finishes to give each loudspeaker an identity unique to its owner.’ Available now, the Wilson Benesch Resolution sells for $70,000 per pair (RRP).
