THE BRONX
Bronx V (Cooking Vinyl)
The Bronx have been angry, The Bronx have inspired. The Bronx have spent time musing on the move to adulthood, when the venomous rage of youth dies down. But now, the hardcore heroes out of L.A. are indifferent. Well, to a point, because Bronx V showcases a band that has moved so far towards personal extremes that they’ve become emotionally indifferent. It’s intentionally exhausting.
Guitars and vocals are drenched in distortion from the getgo, and drive through your skull with the unrelenting force of a hedonistic binge fuelled by someone with nothing to lose. It’s pretty bleak. Bronx V takes your ears to uncomfortable places.
But the way it tackles social lethargy through ferocity is oddly and rather weirdly uplifting. Peter Zalunzy
