NEW YAMAHA FLAGSHIP AV MODELS
Yamaha has expanded its range of home theatre amplifiers by adding a new 11.2-channel flagship pair, the CX-A5200 AV pre-amplifier and MX-A5200 power amplifier. ‘ These brand-new separate components deliver an exhilarating cinema experience in the home with effortless power output and astonishing sonic realism,’ said Damien Henderson, Product Manager of Yamaha Music Australia’s AV division. ‘ Both models incorporate many new and updated features, not the least of which is the new Surround:AI mode on the CX-A5200, which establishes a benchmark for surround sound with continuous analysis and optimisation of surround effects in real time.’ Rather than being a pre-set sound mode, Surround:AI optimises surround sound effects in real-time to best-suit the scene of a movie, measuring the dynamic range, dialogue content, sound effect spectrum, background music frequencies and channel balance to dynamically deliver the best sound field at any moment during a movie.
The Yamaha CX-A5200 has Dolby Atmos and DTS:X surround sound decoding with up to 7.2.4-channel processing as well as improved Cinema DSP HD3 signal-processing algorithms to enhance the sound field’s vertical dimension. Yamaha uses two ESS Sabre Pro 32-bit Premier DACs (ES9026 PRO) in the audio section of the CX-A5200, which link to professional-grade connections including a full complement of balanced XLR pre-outs including two subwoofer pre-outs and a stereo input for high-end source components.
Yamaha rates the power output of the 11-channel MX-A5200 power amplifier at 150-watts per channel, two channels driven into 8Ω and the eleven outputs can be configured in several modes including five bi-amped channels plus a bridge-tied-load (BTL) option.
The Yamaha CX-A5200 AV pre-amplifier is available now, for $3,899 (RRP), while the Yamaha MX-A5200 power amplifier is scheduled to go on sale next month, also at $3,899 (RRP). Both models are covered by Yamaha’s extended 5-year warranty, which includes a 2-year replacement period, so that any model that fails within the first two years will be replaced with a brand new model.
