Stax steps out with a portable electrostatic amp

Stax is arguably the best range of headphones (or ‘earspeakers’ as Stax prefer to call them) in the world. If there was a downside it would be that being electrostatic they remain tethered to your audio system without the opportunity to use them in portable situations.

This has now changed with the release of the SRM-D10 battery-powered PORTABLE Electrostatic Headphone Amp/DAC (pictured below).

This unit will accept all 5-pin Stax electrostatic headphones. It has both a MicroUSB digital input and a 3.5mm analogue input. The high-resolution DAC handles DSD128 and PCM audio with an up to 384KHz sample rate. Price $1,495.
