Dead Letter Circus (BMG)
Eponymous albums are always a gamble for any band, no matter what their level of musical evolution, but in the case of progcore Brisbanites Dead Letter Circus, it’s the only genuine option that would suit their new opus. Their fifth stack of serpentine shred anthems is an amalgam of everything they have experimented with thus far, hits of guttural might and spacey reverb mingling with a prowess that only Dead Letter Circus can muster. New guitarist Luke Palmer gels effortlessly with established rifflord Clint Vincent, the pair duelling with slick and sun-bright bends that elevate vocalist Kim Benzie to previously unimaginable levels of ethereality. Though it admittedly stales towards the end, Dead Letter Circus is a must-listen for all progheads. Sarah Comey
