Tellurium Q ultra Black 2

-

Tellurium Q has released its Ultra Black 2 speaker cable, which comes with the unusual option that you can purchase unequal lengths for the left and right channels of a stereo pair. We can’t say we’d recommend taking advantage of this option, because it means that the electrical characteristics of the cable would be different for each channel, plus the audio signal would take longer to travel down the longer cable than the shorter one, resulting in an unwanted time delay.

As for the cable itself, Tellurium Q does not offer specifications of any kind, even basic ones such as resistance, capacitance and inductance, because it says it does not think consumers can relate specifications to sound quality, and that offering such specifications would allow its competitors to benefit from its research and development. Tellurium Q instead says that the sound quality of a cable should be the ultimate arbiter. ‘ Even taking into account all the awards that the old Ultra Black speaker cable won, this new version gives a whole new level of performance that is obvious from the first second of listening,’ said Alek- sandar Maksimovic of Audio Magic, which distributes Tellurium Q in Australia. ‘ There’s greater detail, more clarity, and a more organic sound, but a sound that’s still sitting very firmly in the Black cable family.’ A pair of 2.5 metre long Tellurium Q Ultra Black 2 speaker cables 2.5 metres long and terminated with Z plugs, retails for $2,890 (RRP).
