GOLDENEAR TRITON ONE.R
GoldenEar’s new Triton One.R speaker, which is based on GoldenEar’s flagship model, the Triton Reference, is now available in Australia through National AV Solutions. ‘ This extraordinary new reference quality loudspeaker is a smaller, less expensive follow-up to the Triton Reference, which has had a remarkable response in the marketplace from both music and hi-fi enthusiasts as well as the press and reviewers from around the world, who have bestowed upon it numerous ‘product-of-the-year’ awards,’ said Claver Harper, of National AV Solutions, which distributes GoldenEar in Australia. ‘ In fact, here in Australia, the Triton Reference is Sound & Image Magazine’s current ‘Loudspeaker of the Year 2018–19’ while overseas, Sound & Vision magazine has just awarded it their Loudspeaker Top Pick of the Year.’
Sandy Gross, founder and owner of GoldenEar Technology, told Australian Hi-Fi Magazine that the goal of the Triton One.R project was to bring the technology and performance of the company’s flagship Triton Reference into a more compact and less expensive speaker. ‘ There are three newly-designed racetrack-shaped five by nine inch active subwoofer drivers on the front of the cabinet, which have special polymer impregnated nomex cones in order to minimize cone breakup when strongly driven, and there are four seven by ten inch quadratic planar infrasonic radiators to extend the low frequency response,’ said Gross. ‘ The High Velocity Folded Ribbon tweeter, is the same one used in the Triton Reference, and is a new design that incorporates 50 per cent more neodymium magnetic material than previous units, for higher efficiency and greater control. The two five and a quarter inch upper bass/midrange drivers are also new, incorporating a special formulation of polypropylene which combines superior internal damping with a higher speed of transmission through the cone.’
‘ Thanks to painstaking listening and voicing sessions in GoldenEar’s listening room, the voicing of the new Triton One.R mirrors that of the Triton Reference,’ said Harper. ‘ The new Triton One.R’s cabinet is also gorgeous, being painstakingly finished in hand-rubbed piano black lacquer. Overall, it presents itself as an exquisite, sleek, ultra-high-performance lifestyle loudspeaker that delivers extraordinary sound quality that’s comparable with speakers selling for many times the Triton One.R’s recommended retail price of $11,500 per pair.’
