YG ACOUSTICS HAILEY 2

-

YG Acoustics has released upgraded versions of its popular Hailey loudspeaker designs. The three new Hailey 2 models feature the same ‘BilletDome’ tweeter and ‘ViseCoil’ inductor technologies used in YG Acoustics’ flagship loudspeakers.

The Hailey 2.2 is a three-way floorstander, the Hailey 2.1 is a twoway standmount, and the Hailey 2R is a two-way compact speaker designed for rear/side-channel use in multi-channel systems that can be wall mounted. All were developed by YG Acoustics’ founder and chief engineer Yoav Geva. The BilletDome tweeter is a soft dome design that uses a stiff, light aluminium frame. ‘ Although it weighs only 30 milligrams its critical sections are 14 times thicker than a typical hard dome, so its structural strength is vastly superior even to domes made of the most exotic hard materials,’ says Geva. ‘ This remarkable tweeter ends the age-old debate of hard dome versus soft dome, by combining the best of both.’

‘ The technologies Yoav has used in the Hailey 2 mirror those of the recently released Sonja 2, and the industrial design is absolutely stunning,’ said Boris Granovsky, of Absolute HiEnd, which distributes YG Acoustics in Australia. ‘ The result is astonishing sonic performance, only exceeded by the Sonja 2 and Sonja XV in a gorgeous marvel of engineering and craftsmanship.’

YG Acoustics’ ViseCoil inductors are CNC-wound in-house, then encased in a vise-like milled structure that YG claims reduces residual losses by 24 per cent and improves linearity by 60 per cent. ‘ The result is better control over the woofer, far greater bass impact, and an easier job for most amplifiers,’ said Granovsky.

YG Acoustics says the frequency response of all three models extends from 20Hz to 20kHz ±1dB and that the useable response extends to above 40kHz. All models also share the same sensitivity of 87dBSPL (@1m/2.83V) and the same nominal impedance of 4Ω.
