LUMIN D2 STREAMER
Lumin has released a new entry-level network music streamer with both analogue and digital audio outputs called the Lumin D2, which it says ‘ improves on the hugely successful D1’ in that it has a faster processor that plays back DSD128 5.6MHz, twin Wolfson WM8741 DACs, a compact, solid aluminium chassis, and doesn’t require a separate outboard power supply. The Lumin D2 can play all high-resolution formats including MQA, DSD, FLAC, WAV, PCM… and not only has native support for Tidal, Qobuz, Spotify and AirPlay built in, but also Roon. ‘ The Lumin D2 has all the connections, inputs and outputs you can think of, except for a digital input,’ said Aleksandar Maksimovic of Audio Magic, which distributes Lumin in Australia. ‘ Some audiophiles might view this as a disadvantage, however, for some people it’s actually a plus.’
Maksimovic told Australian Hi-Fi that the sound of the D2 was wonderfully balanced, accurate and clear. ‘ Listening to music you love you’ll hear a perfect balance of smooth and soft flow experience with a ‘spice’ of non-extravagant attention to detail,’ he said. ‘ But it’s more than just the superb sound quality delivered by Lumin, it’s how you access your music, because Lumin’s App is a masterclass in how to make music browsing and playback easy, visual, and tactile. The software is stable, up-to-date and simply the most intuitive and visually rich way to browse, select and play your music collection.’ Available now, the Lumin D2 retails for $3,290.
