MAGICO A1 LOUDSPEAKER RELEASED
US manufacturer Magico has released a new Magico A1 two-way Bookshelf/stand mount loudspeaker with a carbon/nanographene bass/midrange driver and a Beryllium dome tweeter in a fully braced aluminium enclosure.
The 165mm diameter bass/midrange driver has a carbon fibre cone with a layer of nanographene, which Peter Mackay of Magico says ‘ provides optimal stiffness to weight ratio and an ideal damping factor.’ The motor system uses larger-than-usual magnets to ensure a stabilized magnetic field for the 39mm diameter titanium voice coil.
The tweeter in the new A1 is exactly the same one used in the Magico A3, a Beryllium-domed 28mm model with a neodymium magnet. ‘ This has proved itself as a great-sounding tweeter,’ said Boris Granovsky, of Absolute HiEnd, which distributes Magico in Australia. ‘ The entire motor system is encased in an improved back chamber with Magico’s latest generation damping materials that facilitate ultra-low distortion, higher power handling, massive dynamic capabilities, and extended linear voice coil movement.’
The cabinet of the Magico A1 enclosure measures 397×216×305mm (HWD) and is constructed from 9mm 6061 T6 aircraft grade aluminium that’s finished with brushed black anodising. ‘ An innovative internal bracing technique along with the most advanced damping materials makes the sealed enclosure incredibly rigid and free of unwanted mechanical resonances,’ says Mackay.
The Magico A1 has a rated sensitivity of 85dBSPL, and a nominal impedance of 4Ω. Retail price is $11,850 per pair (RRP). For more information, contact Absolute HiEnd on (04) 8877 7999 or at www.absolutehiend.com
