MY FAVOURITE THINGS

Mirror We’ve had it so long I can’t remember where we bought it, but I do recall it was an expensive purchase when we were in our early 20s. Bowl and jugs on mantel From my shop, Acquire@Design. Baskets

(in hearth) I love and adore these! They’re family heirlooms that came from my maternal grandfather’s shop in Rabaul, New Guinea. My mother had them from when she was very young. Mannequins and their clothing From various market stalls and reverse-garbage outlets. They serve as coat racks. All the clothing, including mine, is from my new brand, Kimberley Tonkin. Armchair

I inherited this French provincial chair from a late family friend. Side table From Kmart. Pendant light I bought this and similar lights for our renovation project five years ago. My husband refers to them as ‘testicles’.

MY FAVOURITE HAUNTS

What do you love about your suburb? Its vibrancy and diversity, and the people. Newtown is so open-minded, tolerant and respectful.

What is your favourite local store? The Button Shop has been here for almost 30 years and I love its interior. There’s a huge button on the door as you enter, and the windows are always a delight.

What does ‘home’ mean to you? Home is the space where I can be completely free.
