Australian House & Garden

EDITOR’S LETTER

-

One of the privileges of working on House & Garden is getting a personal tour of a plethora of beautiful houses and meeting the design talents behind them. And sometimes, if we are very lucky and the homeowners are happy to be revealed, we get to meet them and discuss the thinking behind their finished home. In this issue, we meet leading interior designer Marco Meneguzzi and visit his charming and sophisticated home, page 25. Much like the man himself, his Sydney apartment is impeccably presented and exudes an approachable elegance.

Myriad decisions go into the content of each issue and, in this edition, one of the questions was whether to put a gorgeous dachshund on the cover. We love the beautifully executed scheme designed by Lucinda Kimpton for a reimagined country home, on page 94, and felt that little Posie taking pride of place on the freshly upholstered window seat was a winner. We hope you agree. We would love to hear your feedback on that and anything else that sparks your imagination – we give away a fabulous home-related prize each issue and would love you to share your thoughts. Please see page 23 for more details.

We are delighted to introduce our new food maestro, Amanda Cordony, of The Cordony Kitchen, page 79. Amanda will serve us a mouthwatering seasonal menu in every issue. This month, she encourages us to gather friends and family for a fresh Easter feast – it is all delicious, relatively simple to prepare, and, I think you will agree, looks stunning. Our stylist Sophie Wilson has brought her finesse to the table with a selection of elegant tableware and accessories to inspire your own entertaining.

As the weather gets cooler, the comfort and warmth of home beckon and I love the idea of turning your own space into an indulgent spa. Kirstie Clements offers us some luxe treats for transforming your bathroom, bedroom or even your living room floor into a personal wellness centre.

I have long admired Victoria Collison’s work, so it is exciting to include her as our The Creative Type, page 192. Victoria got her start as a window dresser at iconic fashion label Sportsgirl. From there, her career trajectory took her overseas and then to Vogue Australia as style director. It is great to hear what she is doing and thinking about now.

We hope you find plenty of fresh ideas on the following pages.

“As the weather gets COOLER... I love the idea of turning your own SPACE into an INDULGENT spa.”
