FIRST HOME I OWNED A two-storey apartment in innerSydney’s Darlinghurst.
MY BEST HOME DECORATING FIND EVER A Spanish side table from Edward Clarke Antiques, bought 10 years ago. I knew that Ed had a new shipment, so I flew down to Melbourne specially and ended up buying four pieces on the day. I immediately fell in love with the Spanish table. I loved the drawers and the patina. It sits at the top of the landing, covered with books and flowers.
BUCKET-LIST DESTINATION I’m drawn to the romance and history of Egypt. It’s difficult to get to, which makes it extra special. (1)
FAVOURITE RESTAURANT TABLE Window table at Bert’s Bar & Brasserie, Newport. I love everything about it – the decor, the service, the ambience. It’s like being transported to another planet.
FAVOURITE WARDROBE ITEM Ralph Lauren Purple Label monogrammed velvet loafers. (5) THE ITEM(S) I COULD NEVER BE WITHOUT My collection of watches, all vintage Cartier. The Tank style is my favourite style. (8) DREAM CAR My John Cooper Works Clubman Mini is perfect for zipping about city streets and for drives to Palm Beach. (6) MUST-HAVE COLOUR Anything navy blue, my go-to neutral. It’s sharper and smarter than black and brings out the intensity of any colour it’s paired with. I LOVE OF A VASEFUL OF… Masses of peonies, tulips or hydrangeas – but never in the same vase! (7)
FAVOURITE SCENT Santa Maria Novella Melograno. (4)
SPECIAL MOVIE I’VE WATCHED AGAIN AND AGAIN The Notebook. It’s a romantic, old-fashioned love story. The odds are against them, but they stay together until the end.
DESERT ISLAND MUSIC Anything by Fleetwood Mac.
WHAT DESIGNER INSPIRES YOU? Ralph Lauren, whether it’s his clothing, fabric and homewares stores or his restaurants. (2,3,9) PROUDEST PROFESSIONAL MOMENT When I was a very young designer, the second house I designed featured on the cover of a leading design magazine, with a 12-page spread inside.
