• 24mm craft eyes amber

SPECIAL ABBREVIATI­ONS

Bobble (yarn over hook, hook into space, yarn over hook and draw up to a height of 2cm 2times, yarn over hook and draw through all 5 loops on hook, 1ch to fasten.

Dec (yarn over hook, hook into next tr, yarn over hook and draw through, yarn over hook and draw through 2 threads only) twice; yarn over hook and draw through the remaining 3 loops.

GETTING STARTED

Eye Piece (make 4)

Using 5.50mm with a strand of Tarandale and pure wool together, work 4ch, slst back into 1st of the 4ch to form a ring.

WORKING PATTERN

Row 1: 4ch ( this is equivalent to

1tr, 1ch); (1tr into ring 1ch)11 times; slst in top of 3rd ch.(12 tr & 12 1ch spaces).

Row 2: sl st in 1st1ch sp,3ch, 1tr in same sp(1ch,2tr in next sp) 3 times, 2tr in each 1ch sp to end, sl st in top of 3rd ch. (12 groups of 2tr and 3 1ch spaces).

Fasten off.

BACK

You need 2 eye pieces. Using 5.5mm hook and Tarandale and mohair tog. Row 1: with front of 1st eye piece facing you, join yarn to 1st

1ch space,3ch,(bobble, 1 extra chain,bobble)in same space (1 extra ch,bobble,1 extra ch,bobble innext 1ch space)twice.

Pick up 2nd eye piece, with front of 2nd eye piece facing you, work(1 extra ch,bobble,1 extra ch, bobble) in each of the three 1ch spaces,1tr in last 1ch space beside bobble.(12 bobbles,11 1ch sp,and 1 tr at each end). Turn

Row 2: 3ch,(bobble into top of next bobble under 2 threads,1 extra ch)11 times,bobble into last bobble,1tr in top of 3rd ch. (12 bobbles,11 1ch spaces and1 tr at each end) turn. Rep row 2 a further 6 times.

Fasten off.

STRIPE BETWEEN EYES

Using 5.50mm hook and 2 strands of mohair, join yarn to middle of eye pieces (in 2nd tr above body through both sides of the eye pieces together), work 1ch, 1dc in each of next 5 tr. Fasten off

Darn in all ends.

FRONT

You need 2 eye pieces. Using 5.5mm hook and Tarandale and mohair tog. Row 1: with front of 1st eye piece facing you, join yarn to 1st

1ch space,3ch,(bobble, 1 extra chain,bobble)in same space, (1 extra ch,bobble,1 extra ch,bobble in next 1ch space)twice.

Pick up 2nd eye piece,with front of 2nd eye piece facing you,work(1 extra ch,bobble,1 extra ch,bobble) in each of the three 1ch spaces,1tr in last 1ch space beside bobble.(12 bobbles,11 1ch sp,and 1 tr at each end). Turn

Row 2: 3ch,(bobble into top of next bobble under 2 threads,1 extra ch) 5 times, turn

Row 3: 3ch (bobble in top of next bobble under 2 threads 1 extra ch) 5 times, 1 tr into top of 3rd turning ch of previous row. Turn.

Row 4: 3ch,(bobble into top of next bobble under 2 threads,1 extra ch) 4 times, turn

Row 5: 3ch (bobble in top of next bobble under 2 threads 1 extra ch) 4 times, 1 tr into top of 3rd turning ch of previous row. Turn.

Row 6: 3ch (bobble into top of next bobble under 2 threads,1 extra ch) 3 times, turn

Row 7: 3ch (bobble in top of next bobble under 2 threads 1 extra ch) 3 times, 1 tr into top of 3rd turning ch of previous row. Turn.

Row 8: 3ch (bobble into top of next bobble under 2 threads,1 extra ch) twice. Fasten off.

Return to other side of front and rejoin yarn to beginning of 1 st row with asl st.

Work rows 2 to 8 to correspond with first wing. Fasten off.

STRIPE BETWEEN EYES

Using 5.50mm hook and a strand each of both eyelash yarns together , join yarn to middle of eye pieces (in 2nd tr above body through both sides of the eye pieces together), work 1ch, 1dc in each of next 5 tr.

Fasten off.

Attach eyes and sew wooden bead in position.

Darn in all ends.

INSIDE LINING (MAKE 2)

Using 1 strand of Pure wool only and 5.50mm hook work 37ch.

Row 1: Miss 3ch, 1tr in each ch to end.(35 TR).TURN

Row 2: (1dc, 1ch), in first tr, 1tr in each tr to END,TURN

Repeat row 2 five times (35tr)

Row 8: (1dc, 1ch) in first tr, dec, 1tr in each tr to last 3tr, Dec, 1tr in top of turning ch.(33tr)turn

Repeat row 7 twice (29tr)

Row 11: (1dc, 1ch) in first tr, 1tr in next tr,*dec, 1tr in next tr*; rep from * to *to end (20tr).

Row 12:(1dc, 1ch) in first tr, Dec, 1tr in each tr to last 3tr, Dec, 1tr in top of turning ch (18tr)

Row 13: same as row 12 (16tr).

Row 14:(1dc, 1ch) in first tr, 1 tr in each tr to end(16tr).

Row 15: same as Row 14.

Fasten Off

Darn in all Loose ends.

JOINING EDGE

Pin the inside lining with wrong sides together. With front side of body facing, using 5.00mm hook and 1 strand of Pure wool, Join yarn to body bottom right hand side (through both pieces together).

1ch, work an even row of dc (through both pieces together), working 3dc into corners, up right hand to just below the eyes, 1ch, attach thread to correspond­ing space in back pieces and continue working dc down back side edge, 3dc into corner, across bottom of back , 3dc into corner up side edge of back, to just below the eyes, 1ch re-attach yarn into front in correspond­ing space, dc down front side edge, 3dc into corner, fasten.

Sew two pieces together allowing space for handle and spout.

With Eyelash yarn using 5.00mm hook work a row of dc along Front wings.

EYE EDGING

Using 1 strand of Tarandale and 5.00mm hook attach thread just below eye pieces,

Row 1: Working through all layers

1dc, in each dc around head section to correspond­ing space on other side,turn

Row 2: (1ch, 1 dc) in each dc to end, TURN.

Row 3: Using Eyelash yarn work as for Row 2. Fasten

Darn in all ends
