SPECIAL ABBREVIATI­ONS

Rev Stst – Reverse Stocking Stitch = P on RS rows, K on WS rows; skp – slip next st, k1, pass the slip st over k tbl – through the back of loop;

M1 – make 1 st by picking up running thread from front to back and k it through the back loop;

M1P – make 1 st by picking up running thread from front to back and p it through the back loop;

Work further 3 rows in p2, k2 rib, end with a WS row.

Next Row: WS – Rib, dec 3 (1, 3, 1) sts evenly across row. 63 (69, 75, 81) sts.

Starting with a p (RS) row, work straight in Rev Stst until piece measures 20.5 (21.5, 23, 24) cm from beg, end with a WS row. Place markers at each end of last row worked.

Shape Raglan

Next Row: RS – K1, p2tog, p to last 3 sts, p2togtbl, k1.

Shape Neck

Next Row: RS - K1, p2tog, p6, p2tog, turn, on these 9 sts only. Leave rem sts on hold.

Next Row: WS – K2togtbl, work to end.

Dec 1 st at neck edge next 3 rows AND AT SAME TIME at raglan edge every RS row 3 times, end with a WS row - 2 sts.

Next Row: RS - P2tog.

Fasten off.

With RS facing, return to sts on hold, rejoin yarn, patt next 14 (16, 18, 20) sts and slip these to holder for centre front neck, work 2nd half to match, reversing shaping.

SLEEVES

MAKING UP

Match cast-on edge of sleeve to markers at raglan shaping on front/ back.

Sew raglan sleeve seams from markers to neck, leaving right back raglan seam open.

TURTLENECK

With RS facing, p25 (27, 29, 31) sts from back neck holder dec 1 st at centre, p14 (14, 16, 16) sts from left sleeve holder, pick up and p9 down left front neck edge, p14 (16, 18, 20) sts from front neck holder dec 2 sts evenly across, pick up and p9 up right front neck edge, p14 (14, 16, 16) sts from right sleeve holder. 82 (86, 94, 98) sts.

Row 1: WS – K2, *p2, k2; rep from * to end.

Row 2: P2, *k2, p2; rep from * to end.

Cont in rib until turtleneck measures 11.5cm, end with a RS row.

Cast off loosely in rib.

Sew right back raglan seam and neckband seam, reversing seam for turnback.

LEFT SIDE AND SLEEVE EDGING

With RS facing, beg at left front caston edge, pick up and k49 (53, 57, 61) sts along left front side edge to raglan seam, pick up and k48 (52, 56, 60) sts from left sleeve cast-on edge, pick up and k49 (53, 57, 61) sts along left back side edge to cast on. 146 (158, 170, 182) sts.

Row 1: WS – K2, *p2, k2; rep from * to end.

Row 2: P2, *k2, p2; rep from * to end.

Row 3: buttonhole row – Rib 101 (110, 119, 125), (rib 2 tog, yo, rib 11 (12, 13, 15)) 3 times, rib 2 tog, yo, rib 4.

Work further 3 rows in k2, p2 rib. Cast off loosely in rib.

RIGHT SIDE AND SLEEVE EDGING

With RS facing, beg at right back cast-on edge, pick up and k49 (53, 57, 61) sts along right back side edge to raglan seam, pick up and k48 (52, 56, 60) sts from right sleeve cast-on edge, pick up and k49 (53, 57, 61) sts along right front side edge to cast on. 146 (158, 170, 182) sts.
