TENSION

32 sts by 44 rows over patt, using 3.25mm needles to 10cm

WORKING PATTERN BACK

Using 3.25mm needles and M, cast on 104 (116, 122, 128, 140) sts.

Beg Pattern

Row 1: Using Main colour K3, P2, * K4, P2, rep from * to last 3 sts, K3.

Row 2: P3, K2, * P4, K2, rep from

* to last 3 sts, P3.

Rep last 2 rows twice.

Row 7: Using Contrast colour, P3, K2, * P4, K2, rep from * to last 3 sts, P3.

Row 8: K3, P2, * K4, P2, rep from

* to last 3 sts, K3.

Rows 1 to 8 incl form patt.

Cont in patt until Back measures 25 (29, 31, 33, 36) cm from beg, working last row on wrong side.

Tie a coloured thread at each end of last row to mark beg of armholes as there is no armhole shaping.

Work 58 (62, 66, 74, 80) rows.

Shape Shoulders

Keeping patt correct, cast off 9 (11, 11, 12, 13) sts at beg of next 6 rows, then 11 (10, 12, 12, 14) sts at beg of foll 2 rows.

Leave rem 28 (30, 32, 32, 34) sts on stitch-holder.

LEFT FRONT

Using 3.25mm needles and M, cast on 52 (58, 58, 64, 70) sts.

Beg Pattern

Row 1: Using Main, K3, * P2, K4, rep from * to last st, P1.

Row 2: K1, * P4, K2, rep from

* to last 3 sts, P3.

Rep last 2 rows twice.

Row 7: Using Contrast colour - P3, * K2, P4, rep from * to last st, K1.

Row 8: P1, * K4, P2, rep from * to last 3 sts, K3.

Rows 1 to 8 incl form patt.

Cont in patt until Left Front measures same as Back to coloured threads, working last row on wrong side.

Tie a coloured thread at end of last row to mark armhole.

Work 14 (14, 14, 16, 18) rows.

Shape Front Slope

Keeping patt correct, dec one st at end (neck edge) of next row, then in every foll alt row until 46 (52, 56, 61, 67) sts rem, then in every foll 4th row until 38 (43, 45, 48, 53) sts rem.

Work 1 (1, 5, 1, 1) rows.

Shape Shoulder

Cast off 9 (11, 11, 12, 13) sts at beg of next row, then in every foll alt row twice.

Work 1 row.

Cast off rem 11 (10, 12, 12, 14) sts.

RIGHT FRONT

Using 3.25mm needles and M, cast on 52 (58, 58, 64, 70) sts.

Beg Pattern

Work 8 rows patt as given for Back. Cont in patt and working increased sts into patt, inc one st at each end of next row, then in every foll 4th (6th, 6th, 6th, 6th) row until there are 58 (64, 74, 90, 104) sts, then in every foll 6th (8th, 8th, 8th, 8th) row until there are 82 (86, 92, 106, 112) sts. Cont without further shaping until Sleeve measures 23 (29, 33, 38,

40) cm from beg, working last row on wrong side.

Shape Top

Keeping patt correct, cast off 8 (9, 9, 11, 12) sts at beg of next 6 rows, then 9 (8, 10, 11, 11) sts at beg of foll 2 rows.

Cast off rem 16 (16, 18, 18, 18) sts.

RIGHT FRONT BAND

Join shoulder seams. With right side facing, using 3.25mm needles and M, and beg at lower edge of Right Front, knit up 80 (88, 98, 106, 114) sts evenly along Right Front edge to beg of front slope shaping, knit up 45 (48, 50, 55, 59) sts evenly along right front slope shaping to shoulder, knit across first 14 (15, 16, 16, 17) sts on back stitch-holder – dec 0 (0, 1, 2, 3) sts evenly across. 139 (151, 163, 175, 187) sts. Note: If making for Boy, omit buttonhole­s.

Row 1: WS – * P2, K2, rep from

* to last 3 sts, P3.

Row 2: K3, * P2, K2, rep from

* to end.

Rep 1st and 2nd rows once.

Row 5: Rib to last 77 (85, 97, 105, 113) sts, rib 2tog, yrn (buttonhole), * rib 16 (18, 21, 23, 25), rib 2tog, yrn, rep from * 3 times, rib 3. 5 buttonhole­s.

Work 2 (2, 4, 6, 6) rows rib. 7 (7, 9, 11, 11) rows rib in all.

Cast off loosely in rib.

LEFT FRONT BAND

With right side facing, using 3.25mm needles and M, and beg at centre back neck, knit across rem 14 (15, 16, 16, 17) sts on back stitch-holder to shoulder seam - dec 0 (0, 1, 2, 3) sts evenly across, knit up 45 (48, 50, 55, 59) sts evenly along left front slope shaping, then knit up 80 (88, 98, 106, 114) sts evenly along Left Front edge to lower edge. 139 (151, 163, 175, 187) sts. Note: If making for Girl omit buttonhole­s.

Row 1: WS – P3, * K2, P2, rep from * to end.

Row 2: * K2, P2, rep from * to last 3 sts, K3.

Rep last 2 rows once.

Row 5: P3, rib 2tog, yrn, * rib 16 (18, 21, 23, 25), rib 2tog, yrn, rep from

* 3 times, rib to end. 5 buttonhole­s. Work 2 (2, 4, 6, 6) rows rib. 7 (7, 9, 11, 11) rows rib in all.

Cast off loosely in rib.

MAKING UP

Do not press. Placing centre of sleeve to shoulder seam, sew in sleeves evenly between coloured threads. Join side and sleeve seams, matching patt. Join Front Bands at centre back neck. Sew on buttons.
