TENSION
16sts over stocking st on 5.5mm knitting needles to 10cm
WORKING PATTERN BODY
Working from the tail end forward, with MC and straight needles, cast on 16 sts.
Row 1 and all RS Rows: Purl
Row 2: kf&b, k1, *(kf&B) 2x, k3; rep from * once more, (kf&b) 2x, k1, kf&B. 24 sts.
Row 4: kf&b, k3, *(kf&b) 2x, k5; rep from *once more, (kf&b) 2x, k3, kf&b. 32 sts.
Row 6: kf&b, k5, *(kf&b) 2x, k7; rep from *once more, (kf&b) 2x, k5, kf&b. 40 sts.
Row 8: kf&b, k7, *(kf&b) 2x, k9; rep from *once more (kf&b) 2x, k7, Kf&b, 48 sts.
Work even in reverse st st until body measures 15.5cm total, ending with a purl row.
Row 1: WS - ssk, k7, *k2tog, ssk, k9; rep from * once more, k2 tog, ssk, k7, k2tog. 40 sts.
Row 2 and all RS Rows: Purl
Row 3: ssk, k5, *k2tog, ssk, k7; rep from *once more, k2tog, ssk, k5, k2tog. 32 sts.
Row 5: ssk, k3, *k2tog, ssk, k5; rep from *once more, k2tog, ssk, k3, k2tog. 24 sts.
Row 7: ssk, k1, *k2tog, ssk, k3; rep from *once more, k2tog, ssk, k1, k2tog.
Bind off remaining 16 sts. Stuff and sew bottom seam of body.
NECK
With MC and double points, cast on 24 sts. Join in the round. Work in reverse st for 3cm. Bind off all sts. Sew the circle to the body.
FEET MAKE 4
Starting at top of foot.
With MC and double points, cast on 12 sts. Join in the round, being careful not to twist. Place stitch marker at beginning of round.
Knit 3 rounds.
Increase Round 1: *k3, kf&b; rep from * 15 sts.
Knit 3 rounds.
Increase Round 1: *k4, KF&b; rep from * 18 sts.
Knit 3 rounds.
Increase Round 1: *k5, kf&b; rep from * 21 sts.
Knit 3 rounds.
Increase Round 1: *k6, kf&b; rep from * 24 sts.
Knit 3 rounds.
Increase Round 1: *k7, kf&b; rep from * 27 sts.
Switch to CC and work for 2.5cm in st st.
Decrease Round 1: *k2, k2tog; rep from *
Every other Round: Knit
Decrease Round 2: *k1, k2tog; rep from *
Decrease Round 3: *k2tog; rep from *
Decrease Round 4: k1, *k2tog; rep from *
Cut yarn. Draw through remaining sts and fasten off.
Turn leg inside out so that the purl side is facing the outside. Stuff legs and sew cast on edge shut.
Attach each leg t body, leaving a 5cm gap between the front and the back legs, and a 10cm gap (measuring across the belly) separating the left and right legs.
HEAD MAKE 2
Starting with forehead.
With CC and straight needles, cast on 12 sts.
Work in reverse st st for 3 rows, starting with a purl row.
Row 2: WS - kf&b, knit to last st, kf&b Repeat last 4 rows until there are 20 sts.
Work 3 rows even.
Decrease Row 1: WS - ssk, k6, k2tog, ssk, k6, k2tog.
Work 3 rows in reverse st st.
Decrease Row 2: ssk, k4, k2tog, ssk, k4, k2tog.
Work 3 rows in reverse st st.
Decrease Row 3: ssk, k2, k2tog, ssk, ks, k2tog.
Work 3 rows in reverse st st.
Decrease Row 4: ssk, k2tog, ssk, k2tog.
Work 3 rows in reverse st st.
Decrease Row 5: ssk, k2tog.
Next Row: p2tog.
MAKING UP
Cut yarn. Draw through remaining stitch. Fasten off. Stuff and sew both pieces together. Stuff neck piece and attach the head to the neck. Embroider eyes and a mouth onto the head if desired.
