Chain 5 and work 9 rows of Square following graph A. Cut yarn and fasten off weaving in ends.

Make 4 more Squares.

MaKING UP

Join the Squares using Single Crochet in the following manner: place 2 Squares tog with right sides touching, insert the crochet hook through both Squares at the arch on edges and work 1 sc. Cont working * 3 sc on ch st on base, 2 ch, skip 3 dc on base *, rep from * to * joining the Squares . Join the 4 Squares in this manner finishing by joining the 1st Square to the last to close them. Place the remaining Square at the top of the

hat and join on the wrong side using sc following graph B. With 2 strands of yarn make a row of sc at the base of the hat working 16 sc for each Square.

Scarf

Chain 5 and work 7 rows of Square following graph A. Cut yarn and fasten off weaving in ends.

Make a total of 30 Squares.

MaKING UP

Join the Squares using Single crochet in the following manner: place 2 Squares tog with right sides touching, insert the crochet hook through both Squares at the arch on edges and work 1 sc. Cont working * 3 sc on ch st on base, 2 ch, skip 3 dc on base *, rep from * to * joining the Squares 2 by 2, then joining to form a strip of 2 x 15 squares.

To make fringe, cut strands 24 cm long, group strands tog 4 by 4 and tie following fringe to the arches on edges and to the ch st at each end of the scarf.

GLOVES GETTING STarTED

Instructio­ns are given in medium size to adjust size of glove follow graph below.

Cast on 20 sts on 1 needle, 20 sts on another and 20 sts on the 3rd needle. 60 sts (cast on sts loosely so they are not tight). With the 4th needle work sts on each needle in 1x1 Ribbing. Note: to avoid a ladder between sts on each needle do the following after every 2 rounds: after finishing the sts on 1 needle work 2 more sts from the following needle, rep this operation with each needle until the original 20 sts are returned to their starting point. When hand measures 7.5 cm, cont working in Stocking St increasing 10 sts once in the same round in the following manner: * K6, inc 1 (pick up strand of yarn between last worked st on right needle and st to be worked on left needle and knit Twisting a Stitch *, rep from * to *. 70 sts.

When hand measures 14.5 cm start 1st finger.

Thumb: work over 14 sts leaving rem sts of each needle on a stitch holder so they can be put back into work in the same order.

Distribute the 14 sts in the following manner: 4 sts on 1st needle, 1 increase, 5 sts, 5 sts on 2nd needle, 1 increase .6 sts, 5 sts on 3rd needle. 16 sts . Work in the round in Stocking St.

When thumb measures 3.5 cm cast off the 16 sts.

Hand: bring back into work the 56 sts left on stitch holders, distribute them onto the 3 needles and work 3 cm St St. fingers: work each finger separately in the same manner as thumb but making each one a different length: index: 3.5 cm, middle 5 cm, ring: 4 cm, little: 3 cm. Make other glove the same.
