NEEDLES AND TOOLS

• 2.75mm knitting needles • 3.25mm double-pointed knitting

needles

• 3.00mm double-pointed knitting

MEASUREMEN­TS

To fit knee: 38, 43cm

Sleeves To fit: 22, 24, 28, 31, 35cm Sleeve length: 45cm

TENSION

For Knee Warmers: 33 sts by 64 rows over garter st on 2.75mm needles to 10cm.

For Sleeves: 28 sts by 36 rows over stocking st on 3.25mm needles to 10cm.

WORKING PATTERN KNEE WARMERS (MAKE 2)

Using 2.75mm needles, cast on 85 (93) sts.

Row 1: K2, * P1, K1, rep from * to last st, K1.

Row 2: K1, * P1, K1, rep from * to end.

Last 2 rows form rib.

Cont in rib until work measures 9 (10) cm from beg, ending with a 2nd row. Knit 8 rows garter st.

Shape for Knee Cap

Note: When pattern specifies turn – proceed as follows to avoid holes in work. Take yarn under needle and onto other side of work, slip next st onto right-hand needle, take yarn under needle and back to original position, slip st back onto left-hand needle, then turn and proceed as instructed in pattern.

Row 1 and Row 2: Knit to last 2 sts, turn.

Row 3 and Row 4: Knit to last 4 sts, turn.

Row 5 and Row 6: Knit to last 6 sts, turn.

Cont in this manner, leaving 2 extra sts at end of each row before turning until 13 sts rem between turnings.

Proceed as folls –

Row 1: K15, turn.

Row 2: K17, turn.

Row 3: K19, turn.

Row 4: K21, turn.

Cont in this manner, working 2 extra sts at end of each row before turning until all 85 (93) sts have been worked.

Knit 8 rows garter st.

Work in rib (as before) until rib measures 9 (10) cm from beg, ending with a 2nd row.

Cast off loosely in rib.

MAKING UP

Do not press. Using a flat seam, join side edges to form back seam. Sew in ends.

SLEEVES (MAKE 2 ALIKE)

Using set of 3.00mm double-pointed needles, cast on 48 (50, 52, 54, 56) sts, and divide as evenly as possible between 3 needles. Join to work in rounds, taking care not to twist cast on edge.

Round 1: * P1, K1, rep from * to end. Rep 1st round 23 times. 24 rounds rib in all.

Change to set of 3.25mm doublepoin­ted needles.

Knit 2 rounds (stocking st).

Round 3: K1, M1, knit to last st, M1, K1. 50 (52, 54, 56, 58) sts.

Cont in stocking st, inc one st (as before) at beg and end of every foll 16th (12th, 8th, 6th, 4th) round until there are 58 (64, 74, 84, 78) sts, then in every foll 18th (14th, 10th, 8th, 6th) round until there are 62 (68, 78, 88, 98) sts.

Cont without further inc until sleeve measures 39cm from beg.

Change to set of 3.00mm doublepoin­ted needles.

Work 24 rounds rib (as before).

Cast off loosely in rib.

MAKING UP

Do not press. Sew in ends.
