Row 1: knit

Row 2: On even side rows knit all sts.

Row 3: knit 1, k1 inserting needle in row below, knit 1, k1 inserting needle in row below

Repeat Rows 3 to 5 to form pattern

Pattern

Worked with 4.00mm crochet hook in the middle of a knit row in the following manner: using yarn from main work * yarn on hook, pass crochet hook below the YO that lies between 2 knit sts, yarn on hook *, rep from * to * a total of 5 times, yarn on hook and close.

Put ring that remains on crochet hook on left needle and work this st with the next st as indicated in explanatio­n.

WORKING PATTERN

With 9.00mm needles cast on 26 sts and work in Relief St following graph A, increasing 1 st 5 times at each edge at beg of every row: 36 sts. When bag measures 31cm, work in Stocking St.

When bag measures 33 cm, with right side facing, work 1 row in the following manner: * K6, 1 Pattern *, rep from * to *, finish with K6.

Cont in Stocking St.

When bag measures 35 cm, work 2 rows Garter St, followed by 4 cm Stocking St. cast off all sts.

Work other piece the same.

MAKING UP

Baste the 2 pieces tog and press carefully.

Straps: cut cord in half and with 4.00mm crochet hook cover the 2 cords by working Slip St over them. Sew sides and base of bag, leaving the bag un-sewn from where the Stocking St starts.

Fold the un-sewn part to the inside at the Garter St rows and sew, leaving the sides open so that the straps can be introduced.

Introduce the straps, one in each part of the bag, and sew joining the ends.

Loop: with 4.00mm crochet hook work 1 Crochet chain 18 cm long. Button: work circular, closing each row with 1 Slip st. With 4.00mm crochet hook chain 5

Row 1: ch 3, 7 dc. 2nd row: ch 3, 12 dc. Cut yarn and fasten off.

Baste around circle, thread yarns into the centre and pull basting to form a ball.

Sew button onto one side of the bag and loop onto the other side.

NECKWARMER

Cast on 58 sts and work in Relief St following Graph A.

When neck warmer measures 14 cm, change direction of work, ie: knit the purl rows and purl the knit rows. When neck warmer measures 28 cm cast off all sts.

Sew sides and press.

JACKET GETTING STARTED

Row 1: knit

Row 2 and alt rows: Purl

Row 3: Knit 58 slip 2sts to a cable needle, hold in front, K2; K2 from cable needle

Row 5: knit

Row 7: Knit 58 slip 2sts to a cable needle, hold in front, K2; K2 from cable needle

Repeat rows 5-7.

Pattern st: worked over 4 sts.

Row 1: RS - K4.

Row 2: WS - P2 tog, YO, slip 1 st to RH needle, P1 and PSSO.

Row 3: K1, K1 in YO of previous row, K1.

Row 4: P3.

Continue working 3 sts in Stocking st until you reach the 22nd row: work 2 sts in the first st, drop the next st and unravel back to beginning, work 2 sts in the last st.

WORKING PATTERN BACK

Using 7.00mm needles, cast on

46(50, 56, 60) sts.

Work in 1x1 Ribbing.

When work measures 5 cm, using 8.00mm needles work in following stitch pattern:

Size S: 5 sts in Reverse Stocking st, 4 sts in Cable pattern, 4 sts in Reverse Stocking st, 4 sts in Pattern st, 4 sts in Reverse Stocking st, 4 sts in Cable pattern, 4 sts in Reverse Stocking st, 4 sts in Pattern st, 4 sts in Reverse Stocking st, 4 sts in Cable pattern, 5 sts in Reverse Stocking st.

Neckline shaping

When work measures 64(65, 66, 67 cm), on a RS row, cast off the centre 6(8, 10, 12) sts and continue working each half separately.

Note: casting off the centre sts, drop the st in pattern st and unravel back to beginning. Cast off at neck edge, every 2 rows: 3 times 2 sts. AT THE SAME TIME work shoulder shaping When work measures 65(66, 67, 68 cm), for shoulder cast off, at the beginning of each WS row:

Size S: 2 times 7 sts

Size M: 1 time 8 sts, 1 time 7 sts

Size L: 1 time 9 sts, 1 time 8 sts

Size XL: 2 times 9 sts

Work other half in the same way, reversing all shaping.

RIGHT FRONT

Using 7.00mm needles, cast on 23(25, 28, 30) sts.

Work in 1x1 Ribbing.

When work measures 5 cm, using 8.00mm needles work in following stitch pattern:

Size S: 6 sts in Reverse Stocking st, 4 sts in Pattern st, 4 sts in Reverse Stocking st, 4 sts in Cable pattern, 5 sts in Reverse Stocking st

Size M: 6 sts in Reverse Stocking st, 4 sts in Pattern st, 5 sts in Reverse Stocking st, 4 sts in Cable pattern, 6 sts in Reverse Stocking st

When work measures 40 cm, decrease at right edge, on right side of work:

Size S: every 4 rows: 9 times 1 st

Size M: every 4 rows: 10 times 1 st

Size L: alternatel­y every 2 and 4 rows: 11 times 1 st

Size XL: alternatel­y every 2 and 4 rows: 12 times 1 st

Work decreases as follows: on right side of work, at the beginning of row: P2, P2 tog. NOTE: after unraveling the Pattern st, continue working 4 sts in Stocking st instead of working in Cable pattern; for decreases K2 tog.

Shoulder

When work measures 65(66, 67, 68 cm), for shoulder cast off at the beginning of each WS row: NOTE: when casting off the sts, drop the st in Pattern st and unravel back to beginning.

Size S: 2 times 7 sts

Size M: 1 time 8 sts, 1 time 7 sts

Size L: 1 time 9 sts, 1 time 8 sts

Size XL: 2 times 9 sts

LEFT FRONT

Work same as right front, until work measures 40 cm.

Neckline shaping

Decrease at left edge, on right side of work:

Size S: every 4 rows: 9 times 1 st

Size M: every 4 rows: 10 times 1 st

Size L: alternatel­y every 2 and 4 rows: 11 times 1 st

Size XL: alternatel­y every 2 and 4 rows: 12 times 1 st

Work decreases as follows: on right side of work, work to the last 4 sts: P2 tog, P2.

Note: after the 3rd stitch-pattern change, work 0(6, 0, 7)sts in Reverse Stocking st, 4 sts in Cable pattern and continue working the rem sts in Reverse Stocking st.

Shoulder

When work measures 65(66, 67, 68) cm, for shoulder cast off at the beginning of each right side row:

Size S: 2 times 7 sts

Size M: 1 time 8 sts, 1 time 7 sts

Size L: 1 time 9 sts, 1 time 8 sts

Size XL: 2 times 9 sts

MAKING UP

Back and front side bands

Using 7.00mm needles, pick up 89(91, 93, 95) sts along one side edge of back. Work 5 cm in 1x1 Ribbing and cast off all sts. Work a second band along other back side edge and along each front side edge in the same way.

Sew left shoulder seam.

BACK NECK EDGE, FRONT NECK EDGE AND LEFT FRONT BAND

Using 7.00mm needles, on RS of work pick up 27(30, 33, 36) sts along back neck edge, then pick up 18(19, 20, 21) sts until you reach centre of front neck. 45(48, 53, 57) sts.

Work 2 rows in 1x1 Ribbing.

Next Row: pick up 18(19, 20, 21) more sts until you reach the beginning of left front neck shaping and work 2 more rows in 1x1 Ribbing along all sts. 63(68, 73, 78) sts.

Next Row: pick up 49 sts until you reach lower edge of left front. Continue working in 1x1 Ribbing for

the next 5 cm over all sts 112(117, 122, 127) sts and cast off all sts.

RIGHT FRONT NECK AND RIGHT FRONT BAND

Using 7.00mm needles, on RS of work pick up between centre of neck and shoulder 18(19, 20, 21) sts. Work 2 rows in 1x1 Ribbing.

Next Row: pick up 18(19, 20, 21) more sts until you reach the beginning of right front neck shaping and work 2 more rows in 1x1 Ribbing over all sts. 36(38, 40, 42) sts.

Next Row: pick up 49 sts until you reach lower edge of right front. Continue working in 1x1 Ribbing over all sts. 85(87, 89, 91) sts.

AT THE SAME TIME work buttonhole­s On the 3rd row (after picking up the last 49 sts), work the first buttonhole (YO, work 2 sts tog) 3.5 cm from lower edge and work 4 more buttonhole­s, each 7.5 cm apart.

When work measures 5 cm, measured after picking up the last 49 sts, cast off all sts.

SEW RIGHT SHOULDER, JOIN BAND EDGES.

Evenly sew 5 buttons along left front band, opposite buttonhole­s.

Sew back side bands to each front side band, and sew buttons to front bands = the first button 26(27, 28,29 cm) from shoulder seam, the rem 4 buttons each 9 cm apart.
