18sts over garter st on 5mm needles to 10cm

GETTING STARTED

Very easy to knit, this design has only one seam to sew under the sleeve, great use of “knitting up” stitches technique to avoid sewing up and a close to seamless finish.

Bodice finished size varies on version you choose to wear. A form fitting style.

WORKING PATTERN

Sleeves and Upper Back (this is worked in one long strip)

Cast on 42(52)sts and work in garter st (every row Knit) until piece measures 36(40) cm, place marker(sleeve seam), continue as before until 14(17)cm from marker, place a second marker, this indicates the area in which the main body section stitches will be picked up from, continue for a further 24cm (neck opening) place 3rd marker, continue as before until 14(17)cm from marker, place a 4th marker, these markers indicate the area in which the main body section sin which stitches will be picked up. Continue as before for a further 36(40) cm (sleeve seam).

Cast off loosely. 124cm (138cm)

Sew sleeve seams from either edge to the 1st and 4th markers.

Back and Front section (the stitches needed for this part of the garment are picked up between the markers and along the back of the sleeve piece.

Beg at 3rd marker, pick up and knit 24(28) sts to sleeve seam, 84(92) sts across back, 24(28) sts to 2nd marker 132(148) sts. ROW 1: k4,* p4, k4* rep from* to end.

ROW2: Purl

Repeat these two rows until piece measures 27(30) cm. Cast off loosely in pattern using 8.00mm needle.

With RS facing, starting along side edge of 2nd section, pick up and knit 42(48) sts to section 1, 40(44) sts across section 1(in 24cm section), 42(48) sts down opposite side edge of 2nd section 132(140) sts. ROW 1: k4,* p4, k4* rep from* to end.

ROW2: Purl

Repeat these two rows until piece measures 18(20cm). Using 8.00mm needle cast off loosely

MAKING UP

Sew in ends.
