• 3.75mm knitting needles • wool sewing needle
MEASUREMENTS
Size 25cm x 180cm
TENSION
24 sts by 32 rows over stocking st, on 3.75mm needles to 10cm.
GETTING STARTED
Note – When working stripes do not break off colours not in use but carry yarn loosely along side edges of work until required again, catching in on alt rows to avoid long strands.
WORKING PATTERN SCARF
Using 3.75mm needles and Sunset, cast on 79 sts.
BEG PATT
ROW 1: K3, K2tog, * K3, (yfwd) twice, K3, K3tog, rep from * to last 11 sts, K3, (yfwd) twice, K3, sl 1, K1, psso, K3.
ROW 2: P7, * (P1, K1) into double yfwd from previous row, P7, rep from * to end.
Last 2 rows form patt.
Work a further 2 rows patt.
Work 144 more rows in stripes as folls:
2 rows each Linen, Cream, Black, Cream and Black.
4 rows Sunset.
2 rows each Linen, Black, Cream and Black.

GETTING STARTED
Thread 20 beads on to the main colour prior to beginning each mitten
WORKING PATTERN RIGHT MITTEN
CUFF: Using the long-tail method and 3.25mm DPNs cast on 60sts with the contrast colour (20sts each of three needles. If not using contrast proceed with main colour.
ROUND 1: Purl
ROUND 2: Knit
Change to main colour and work 16 rounds of the Lily Lace edge chart. Change to main colour and decrease by ssk before the double decrease of round 13 of Lilly chart and K2tog after the double decrease. 48 sts remain. Knit 6 rounds
WRIST BAND: PEBBLE STITCH
ROUND 1: K2tog to end of round 24sts
ROUND 2: P1, make 1 (with left needle tip lift strand between needles from front to back, purl this loop through the front –do not twist it) to end of row. 48sts
Knit 4 rounds
Repeat Round 1 and Round 2 of Pebble Stitch
Knit 1 round
INCREASE ROW: Knit 1 row increasing 1sts in centre of each needle. 51sts Rearrange stitches so that there are 25sts for back of hand on 1st needle; 1 gusset stich for thumb plus 12sts on 2nd needle and remaining 13 sts on 3rd.
Hand – as you work the lace place the beads as indicated on the chart.
GUSSET
Yarn over before and after the central gusset stitch in every 3rd round. Work the palm of the hand in st.st and follow the chart for the back of hand.
When 17 gusset sts work a further 2 rounds then place these sts on waste yarn.
Continue on the remaining 50 sts for 4 complete chart patterns.
Knit 3 rounds
ROUND 1 AND ROUND 2: Repeat
Pebble stitch from wrist. This becomes the picot edge. Knit 3 rounds
Cast off loosely
THUMB
Transfer 17sts to 3 needles. Pick up and knit 2 stitches at base of thumb to close gap. 19sts
Work 10 rounds st.st inc 1 stitch in last row. 20sts
ROUND 1 AND ROUND 2: Repeat Pebble Stitch for picot edge.
Knit 3 rounds.
Cast off very loosely.
LEFT MITTEN
As per right except for placement of gusset. Needle configuration will be
NEEDLE 1: 13 sts,
NEEDLE 2: 12sts plus 1 gusset stitch,
NEEDLE 3: 25sts for back of hand.
MAKING UP
Stitch down picot edges on thumb and top of hand. Weave in loose ends
