Divide for Fronts and Back

NEXT ROW: RS - P4, k31 (35, 40, 44), slip these sts to holder for right front, cast off 8 sts for underarm, k until there are 70 (78, 88, 96) sts on needle, turn (leave rem 35 (39, 44, 48) sts on hold for left front), cast off 8 sts for 2nd underarm (= 62 (70, 80, 88) sts for back rem).

BACK

Stst until back meas 23 (25, 27, 29) cm from beg, end with a WS row.

Cast off 17 (20, 24, 27) sts, beg next 2 rows.

Leave rem 28 (30, 32, 34) sts, on holder for Back neck.

Note: When working fronts work 2nd buttonhole on required front 2.75 (3, 3.25, 3.5) cm above first buttonhole.

LEFT FRONT

Rejoin yarn to rem sts for Left Front at armhole edge, k to last 4 sts, p4.

Keeping front edge 4 sts in Garter

Stitch as establishe­d and rem sts in Stst (work buttonhole if required), work until piece meas 19.5 (21.5, 23.5, 25)cm from beg, end with a RS row.

SHAPE NECK

NEXT ROW: WS - Gtst 4, slip these 4 sts to holder, cast off 6 sts, p to end. Dec 1 st at neck edge until: 17 (20, 24, 27) sts rem (4 sts on holder not included).

Cont straight until Front meas same as Back to shoulder, end with a WS row. Cast off.

RIGHT FRONT

With WS facing, rejoin yarn to rem sts for Right Front.

Work Right Front to match Left

Front, reversing shaping (work 2nd buttonhole if required).

SLEEVES

With 2.25mm needles, cast on 44 (46, 48, 50) sts.

Gtst for 6 rows (p every row) and inc 6 (4, 14, 12) sts evenly across last row to 50 (50, 62, 62) sts.

Change to 2.75mm (US 2) needles.

BEG MAIN PATTERN

ROW 1: RS – K all sts.

ROW 2: P all sts.

ROW 3: K1; *C4B, k4, C4F; rep from * to last st, k1.

ROW 4: P all sts.

ROW 5: K all sts and inc 1 st each end to 52 (52, 64, 64) sts.

ROW 6: P all sts.

ROW 7: K4, C4F, C4B; *k4, C4F, C4B; rep from * to last 4 sts, k4.

ROW 8: P all sts.

Cont in Main patt and inc 1 st each end every 3rd (3rd, 5th, 5th) row to 76 (80, 84, 88) sts, taking inc sts into Main patt.

Cont straight in patt until piece meas 13.5 (15, 17, 19)cm from beg, end with a row 2 or 6 of patt.

Place marker each end of row.

Patt 6 more rows.

Cast off loosely.

MAKING UP

Block pieces to measuremen­ts. Join shoulder seams.

NECKBAND

With RS facing and 2.75mm needles, slip sts from Right Front holder (Gtst sts already worked) onto needle, pick up and k18 (19, 20, 21) sts, up

Right Front neck, k sts from Back neck holder, pick up and k18 (19, 20, 21) sts, down Left Front neck, p sts from Left Front holder. 72 (76, 80, 84) sts. Gtst (p every row) for 6 rows, in 3rd row work 3rd buttonhole to match. Cast off loosely. Set in Sleeve tops, beg at shoulder seam, underarm cast-off matching sleeve seam edge to marker.

Join sleeve seams. Sew on buttons.

HAT

With 2.25mm needles, cast on 100 (109, 116, 123) sts.

Gtst for 8 rows, inc 22 (25, 30, 35) sts in last row to 122 (134, 146, 158) sts.

Change to 2.75mm needles.

Work 8 rows of Main patt once. Change to 2.25mm needles.

NEXT ROW: P across and dec 10 (14, 16, 14) sts evenly across to 112 (120, 130, 144) sts.

Gtst 3 more rows, place marker each end of last needle (for foldline), then Gtst 3 more rows.

WS becomes RS.

Change to 2.75mm needles.

NEXT ROW: RS – K all sts.

NEXT ROW: P.

Cont in Stst (rep last 2 rows) until hat meas 8 (9, 10, 11)cm from markers, end with a WS row.

SHAPE TOP

NEXT ROW: K6 (7, 7, 9), skp, k1, k2tog; (k14 (15, 17, 19), skp, k1, k2tog) 5 times; k6 (8, 8, 10). 100 (108, 118, 132) sts.

NEXT ROW: P all sts.

NEXT ROW: K5 (6, 6, 8), skp, k1, k2tog; (k12 (13, 15, 17), skp, k1, k2tog) 5 times; k5 (7, 7, 9). 88 (96, 106, 120) sts.

NEXT ROW: P all sts.

Break yarn, leaving longer end, thread yarn through rem sts, draw up tightly, fasten off.

BOOTEES (BOTH ALIKE)

With 2.25mm needles, cast on 37 (39, 43, 47) sts.

Gtst 14 rows.

Change to 2.75mm needles.

Stst until piece meas 4 (4.5, 4.5, 5) cm from beg, end with a WS row.

Next Row: eyelet row - K4 (1, 2, 4); *k2tog, yo, k2; rep from * to last 1 (2, 1, 3) sts, k to end.

P 1 row. DIVIDE FOR INSTEP

NEXT ROW: RS - K24 (25, 28, 30) sts; Turn.

NEXT ROW: WS - P11 (11, 13, 13) sts; Turn. Leave rem sts on holders. Stst for 4 (4.5, 5, 5.5)cm, end with a WS row.

Break yarn.

NEXT ROW: RS - Slip sts from first holder to needles, rejoin yarn, at beg of instep, pick up and k9 (10, 11,

Join centre back seam.
