‘Fabula’ Chunky Jacket
A warm, textured jacket to slip on in chilly weather.
YARN
• 11 balls 100gm or 650 metres knitalpaca ‘Fabula’ chunky 100% Australian alpaca
• 1 ball knitalpaca ‘Granite’ alpaca/silk blend
NEEDLES AND TOOLS
• 5.00mm knitting needles
• 7.00mm knitting needles
MEASUREMENTS
Size: Medium
TENSION
12 sts to 10 cm
GETTING STARTED
PATTERN: (MULTIPLE OF 5 STITCHES) ROW 1: *p 3, k 2 to end
ROW 2 (AND ALL WS ROWS): purl.
ROW 3: p1, k2, *p 3, k2 to last 2 sts, p2.
WORKING PATTERN BACK
Cast on 80 sts. Using 7.00mm needles, work in pattern until back measures 60 cm from beginning. Cast off loosely.
FRONT (KNIT TWO THE SAME)
Cast on 35 sts. Using 7.00mm needles, work in pattern until front measures 60 cm from beginning. Cast off loosely.
SLEEVES (MAKE TWO THE SAME)
Cast on 60 sts. Using 7.00mm needles, working in pattern, decrease one st at each end of row 4 and every fourth row until 36 sts remain. Work 4 rows no decrease. Cast off.
MAKING UP
Join fronts to back at shoulder seams, leaving an opening of 32 cm at centre back.
Join top of sleeve to jacket, aligning the centre stitch of the sleeve with shoulder seam.
Join sleeve and side seams.
COLLAR
With RS facing, pick up 45 Sts along neckline.
NEXT ROW: purl.
Work 8 rows of pattern. Cast off loosely.
FRONT FACING
Using 5.00mm needles and
‘Granite’ yarn, cast on 35 sts.
Work in stocking stitch until work measures 60 cm, or length of front. Cast off. With right sides together stitch facing to left front edge of jacket.. Turn and secure facing to inside of front, so that a narrow strip remains visible on the right side. Darn in ends and gently pat jacket into shape: you should not need to press.
