Canon 5D Mk3 70-200 lens at 200mm F2.8 ISO640, 1/4000, Manual focus
“I shot this image on my 5D Mark 3 that has been submerged on more than 1 occasion, using a canon L series 70-200 2.8 between the masses of the Joyride course this year at Crankworx, Whistler. Wow, was this the most insane event I have been lucky enough to have my camera with to capture! I perched and waited for each rider to place themselves within my frame, and patience paid off.
I chose this image as there is so much happening amongst the chaos of the event, but through it all a single rider becomes the total focus of the thousands of spectators and forms a beautiful composition of its own, framed by Whistler mountain and the fans themselves.
There were so many incredible entries and photographers for the AMB Photography Awards this year, the light category looked so strong! There were a lot of incredible moments captured and work put in.
For me, photography is a release, it is creative freedom, it is something I love and am extremely passionate about. Photography to me is an enabler, it has enabled me to venture into areas of myself I didn’t ever imagine possible and discover things I never knew were there. It is more than just a photo, it’s the journey to get there and the stories behind them that has me always wanting to shoot more.”
