CATCHING UP WITH KYE

-

Kye A’Hern took home a silver from the Junior Downhill World Championships in Lenzerheide. Where to from here?

Age: 17 Height: 183cm Hometown: Canberra, Australia Style: I would say that my style is smooth and flowy. But I definitely have my loose moments!

2018 highlight: Going back to back winning the Fort William World Cup and then Leogang World Cup the next weekend! Grabbing the leaders jersey after Leogang was an amazing feeling.

2019 goal: After some up and down races this year and finishing 4th overall after sitting 2nd majority of the season my main goal for 2019 is to stay up there in the overall series and hopefully finish the season on top.

Bike size: Extra Large (with -3mm headset cups).

Suspension: Generally quite firm and slow but nothing too crazy!

Favourite track for racing: Fort William! Long, rough and fun! I love this track and feel that its quite similar to the downhill track at Thredbo.

Favourite trail ride: An allmountain lap at Thredbo would be my favourite trail ride. A long flowy decent and a couple of pinch climbs. The perfect end to a day filled with laps.

Kye A’Hern took a big leap forward in 2018, winning rounds of the Junior World Cup, and scoring an impressive silver medal at the Junior Downhill World Championships in Lenzerheide, Switzerland. Kye joined us at Thredbo ahead of this issue, and it was the perfect time to talk about the year that was, and the year that lies ahead as he moves into his second year of his contract with Canyon Factory Racing.
