JUMP INTO 2022 WITH ROCKY TRAIL ENTERTAINMENT

-

Rocky Trail Entertainment have over 40 events planned for the east coast of Australia this year, serving just about every kind of mountain biker! Here’s a rundown on what you can expect in 2022 from the fast-paced event team.

SHIMANO MTB GP SERIES

This series gets a re-vamp, with a shift to a 4-hour event for solos and pairs, doing away with the 7-hour option. Their goal is to focus on the shorter racing format with emphasis on providing a grassroots development ground for juniors as well as a professional media platform for up and coming Elites and amateur racing teams.

FOX SUPERFLOW®

The big change here is the addition of a “Pro Stage” racing element at key venues. This will be an additional race stage with elevated technical skills requirements. It is geared towards Elites and up and coming junior racers, giving them a place to test their skills and find winning margins. Rocky Trail will also launch some new venues, including a couple of destinations where their sister company, Rocky Trail Destination, is developing new trails. Get ready to visit Mogo and Oberon!

ROCKY TRAIL ACADEMY

These events potentially have the largest scope for growth, and the series will be expanded into NSW and the ACT as well as VIC with a bigger line-up in QLD. The Rocky Trail Academy races run using a Superflow format for school groups. While the trails are set, there are no rigid stage times for riders. It’s a great way for schools to include mountain biking into their school sport, with all the facilities sorted out for them.

PUMPTRACK SHOOTOUT

This one is a new format with a flagship event planned in Omeo, Victoria in March – you can expect some big name riders and plenty of popular destinations to be announced for this one!

THE WILLO MARATHON

This iconic memorial event will return to its home trails at Wingello State Forest on Sunday 6 March. The trails are reopening after the 2019/2020 bushfires, and there may be a Rocky Trail Schools Academy event tied in as well.

ALPENFLOW

Back in 2022 is the Alpenflow mountain bike weekend at Mount Buller. With the trails having a full refurb, it’s an ideal time to head up the hill to ride new trails, make new friends, and enjoy the mountain air from 11-14 March. This weekend coincides with two Fox Superflow rounds, and the new Australian MTB Film Fest.

AMB 100

It’s back! The singletrack heavy marathon lands back at Mt Stromlo on September 18, with distance options to suit almost anyone. Come along, race your bike, and have a chat at the AMB tent!

JETBLACK 24 HOUR

Race solo, make a team, go flat out or have a party. What 24 hour racing means to you, is entirely up to you. Rocky Trail have consistently provided the platform for this around the clock event, all you have to do is decide how much riding you want to do!
