DHARCO TECH TEES

- WORDS: KATH BICKNELL AND CHRIS HERRON PHOTOS: TIM BARDSLEY-SMITH

DHaRCO’s second generation tech tees feature new prints and an updated version of a custom fabric called ‘drirelease’. This moisture-wicking, odour-controlling fabric feels like a soft cotton t-shirt but is meant to dry several times faster and retain its shape after heavy use. We tested the men’s ‘party’ tee and the women’s ‘black triangles’ tee. Both designs hit that magic mark where it’s the right amount of tight and the right amount of loose. It’s long enough to keep you covered while descending and (for women) high enough on the front to keep your cleavage in check. The slim fit cut means they stay in place nicely on the trails, although some riders may want to size up if they’re not so slim in physique or prefer a roomier fit. We reached for these t-shirts on many occasions: work commutes, trail days, non-bike days, crosstraining and even a 150km gravel ride. Some riders may prefer something with pockets or more fabric for extra protection, but we liked the nice, free feel these tees provide in comparison. The fabric lives up to its claims and dries very quickly, making it a good choice for travelling, bikepacking or in particularly hot weather. They also smell much better than a standard jersey after a long day. There was no chaffing under the arms or neck, even on the longest rides, and the UV protection in the fabric was something we really appreciated. While there are a lot of good things to say about these t-shirts, Chris summed up both our thoughts best when he discussed his reasons for ordering two more: partly because they’re comfortable and functional, but also because if you’re going to spend money on a t-shirt, you may as well buy one from an Australian company who are doing good things for the local trail scene – from supporting riders, to building trails, to creating garments that make you glad to be a rider, whether you’re on your bike or not.
