Alloy bars are the work horse of the bike world and for good reason – they are light and strong and don’t snap! Most importantly, they do not cost the earth. The downside of this is that they tend to be a harsh ride and people instinctively go to a carbon bar to take that harshness away, even with their greater cost. As with the manufacturing of bike frames, there are now so many new ways a handlebar company can make alloy bars. Like carbon, you can engineer an alloy bar to flex or not flex, whichever way you want. Deity have done this on their Skyline bar using a custom Gradient Buttered 7075 T73 Alloy (a big name for big performance). The Skyline bar really confirms its place as a work horse handlebar, and like some other alloy bars we have used, it is very hard to pick it apart from a carbon bar in terms of rider feel. Alloy is just so good these days and the Skyline truly reflects this – backed by a lifetime crash replacement policy and also available in seven different bike matching colours, you would be hard pressed to go past it.
