ESCAPE TO REEF TO REEF

- reeftoreefmtb.com

Are you tired of cold winter rides? Could you use some time at the beach, and the chance to visit some World Heritage listed areas? Do you just want to get out and ride?

It sounds like you need to sign up for Reef to Reef. This 4-day mountain bike event sits in the tropical playground of Cairns and beyond, offering one of the most diverse ranges of trails and experiences of any mountain bike event in Australia.

Running from 18-21 August, Reef to Reef takes you through the world-class trails at Smithfield, before tackling the Davies Creek network in the Dry Tropics. After that, you’ll twist between rainforest trails, countryside singletrack and cattle country at Mt Molloy, before tackling the iconic Bump Track to finish right on the beach at Port Douglas on the last day. While each location is an easy drive from your hotel, you get a wide range of trails and environments to ride in. This year is also the 30th edition of the RRR event, which runs on Sunday 21st August. Expect quite a party!

Reef to Reef can be raced solo or in pairs, and we reckon it is more fun with a buddy to share the highs and lows, banter and back chat. You might also think about staying on while in Tropical North Queensland. As there is more riding to do up around Atherton, plus plenty of places to visit. From a dip in the placid Lake Barrine, a tour in the Daintree, trip to the Great Barrier Reef or even a visit to the famous Herberton Spy and Camera Museum, there is a lot to do up in this corner of Queensland.
