Harry Firth’s Ford and I ‘special’ magazine prompted Howard to send us two fantastic shots of Harry at the Silverdale hillclimb in Sydney’s south-western outskirts in July 1963. “From memory, he inverted the Cortina on his last run,” Howard writes. The spritely nonagenarian was never shy in letting us know when his memory differed from the recollections of others, but sadly we’ll never know for sure now!
