Memorable moments

-

It’s difficult to top Bob Jane’s November 1965 rollover as Catalina Park’s most memorable and enduring moment. His Mustang was destroyed in an incident that has been immortalised in photographs that capture Jane being fling around inside the cabin during the spectacular ‘aerobatics’ display. That the racing great largely shrugged off the incident has only added to its mystique. Open-wheeler driver Ian Fergusson survived being completely tossed from his Lotus 27. Others weren’t so fortunate. Thomas Rich, John Ward and Jack Myers (as outlined in History 101) all lost their lives at the sinuous circuit.
