Bowe’s know how
Bowe has secured his fourth Touring Car Masters title and his first ever series win, of any description, aboard a Holden.
Bowe claimed the overall round win at the Phillip Island finale with two victories from three races. Steven Johnson, driving the Ford Mustang which Bowe started the season in, won the final race of the year.
Completing the top three in the trio of sprints at the Victorian seaside circuit was Eddie Abelnica (XB Falcon hardtop).
The weekend was notable for Bathurst 1000 regular Greg Ritter’s debut. The Victorian was plagued by reliability issues early in the Chev Monza 2+2, but came from the back of the grid to fourth in the finale.
Series runner-up was Jim Richards, in the Shannons Javelin.
Bowe, meanwhile, reflected on another successful season which saw him make the switch to the Holden Torana SL/R 5000.
“We’ve had a terrific year,” he said. “The Torana has exceeded my expectations and the guys that built it at Bendigo Retro Muscle Cars did an awesome job with it. It allowed me to give Stevie (Johnson) a go, because I felt he’d been hard done by in the V8 world. I’ve known him since he was a kid and I think he’s a fantastic driver so it was opportune to let him drive it.”
TCM’s 2016 season begins with Adelaide’s Clipsal 500, March 3-6.
