Car: VG Pacer Hometown: Box Hill, Victoria

-

What is it?

“It’s a 1970 Chrysler VG Pacer tted with A84 track pack option and in the colour of ‘Little Hood Riding Red’. Gotta love those 1970s colours!”

When did you buy it?

“I purchased it from the third owner in 2007 with 89,000 miles on the clock. It now has 98,000 miles on it.”

Why did you buy it?

“I’ve always loved all Chryslers and Valiants. My Dad was a long-term employee of Chrysler/Mitsubishi from 1969 to 1990.”

What do you know about its life?

“The car was rst sold by Convair Motors in Albury to a Colin Shelley, who I knew through work, in May 1970. Colin worked for Convair Motors at the time. He owned the car until the late 1990s and then it was passed through two more owners until the last owner asked Colin if he would like to purchase the car back. He knew I was interested in purchasing the car, so he contacted me and here I am now the owner of this great car.”

How does it go?

“For a 1970s car it performs well and is a good car to drive.”

Anything you’d like to add?

“I take my family and my father who is now in his late 80s to show’n’shines. You get lots of, ‘I had one of those’ and ‘I haven’t seen one of those for years.’ In one of the photos, from left to right, is my father Mervyn, myself and the rst owner of the car Colin Shelley.”
