Goss/Bartlett Falcon XA GT – 1974 Bathurst

-

John Goss was first to race a Falcon XA Hardtop when he debuted his yellow McLeod Ford coupe in February, ’73. It meant he was better prepared than the works Ford team come October at Bathurst – where Goss and Kevin Bartlett looked on course for victory until they collided with a lapped Torana. But while being the ‘hare’ in ’73 bore no result, the McLeod Ford team reaped the rewards 12 months on in the role of ‘tortoise’. The new Torana L34s tore off into the distance but few were still running at the end, leaving Goss and Bartlett to score a famous privateer win.
