Bright/Richards Falcon EL – 1998 Bathurst

Stone Brothers Racing only ever won Bathurst once, in 1998, but what a win it was. They were lucky to just to make the start after Jason Bright crashed heavily in practice, but a combination of an early-stop fuel strategy, some feet-shooting on the part of their opponents and some superb press-on driving from Bright and Steven Richards saw them home. The car itself had started life in 1996 as Alan Jones’ ‘Pack Leader’ EF (chassis AJR EF95-1) – and famously caught fire that year at Bathurst while leading. The Stones bought Jones out at the end of 1997; and SBR was born.
