Lowndes/Whincup Falcon BF – 2007 Bathurst

T riple Eight didn’t build chassis 888-012 speci cally with scoring a second consecutive Bathurst win in mind, but Mount Panorama was where it turned its rst wheel in anger in race conditions – and indeed Lowndes and Whincup were able to score that coveted back-toback triumph. That was the year a late downpour saw the lead runners caught out on slicks in a damp track, and while many around him lost their head, Lowndes’ experience and skill saw them home. The car was meant to serve Whincup through 2008 but had to be replaced after a qualifying crash at Hamilton in New Zealand.
