Whincup Falcon FG – 2009 ATCC

Two of Whincup’s seven championship titles have been won in Fords. It’s tempting to wonder what the ratio might have been had Triple Eight and Ford been able to agree to terms when the two sat down to try to map out a future together in early ‘09. Because if it wasn’t already clear, by then Triple Eight was the dominant team in V8 Supercars, with Whincup winning 11 races in a comfortable defence of his title. In the wake of the ‘divorce’, and in a gesture that was both humorous and churlish, the Blue Oval grille badges on the Triple Eight Falcons were replaced with ‘Hog’s Breath’ pig logos.
