Courtney Falcon FG – 2010 ATCC

It’s hard to imagine DJR Team Penske racing a Falcon built and supplied by archrival Triple Eight, but that indeed was the arrangement via which the Johnson team claimed its last ATCC before Scott McLaughlin’s 2018 success. But the fact that DJR was running Triple Eight hardware (with DJR engines) only made Courtney’s 2010 title all the more meritorious – because it was a smaller customer team up against what was effectively the ‘works’ effort. Not only that, but Courtney had Jamie Whincup to beat. As it was, Courtney’s 2010 win was the only time Whincup was not champion between 2008 and 2014.
