Moffat Falcon XY GT-HO – 1971 Bathurst

-

In ’71 Moffat took pole by the largest margin in the history of the Great Race. He led every lap, and won at an average speed faster than the existing lap record… If the XY GT-HO Phase III is the most revered of all Ford muscle cars, then the Moffat ’71 Bathurst winner stands above all others. It had too much of everything for its six-cylinder Holden and Valiant rivals – what great irony that the most fearsome of all V8 Fords had no V8 opposition. Not even an errant beer carton that attached itself to the grille of the winning HO could threaten Moffat’s victory.
