Moffat Falcon XW GT-HO – 1970 Bathurst

XU-1 vs GT-HO. That was the story of the 1970 Bathurst 1000 (with apologies to Valiant fans). The sight of Colin Bond’s Torana outbraking both the Moffat and Gibson XWs rst time into Murray’s Corner remains one of the race’s iconic moments, although there wasn’t much else to smile about that day for Holden. The Phase II GT-HO had pace and reliability, something which its six-cylinder opposition lacked that year. Moffat’s rst Bathurst win was also the rst time anyone would achieve that feat as a solo driver (Brock was the only other to do so).
