Car: Dodge Challenger SRT8 Hometown: Alexandria, Virginia, USA

What is it?

“It’s a 2010 model Dodge Challenger SRT8 Limited Edition in Detonator Yellow. It’s got the 6.1-litre Hemi with a six-speed manual transmission. The shaker hood is after market and functional.”

When did you buy it?

“I purchased the car in the spring of 2015.”

Why did you buy it?

“My rst ‘girlfriend’ was a 1969 Chevelle SS396 and when the opportunity to relive that period of time was present, I jumped all over it. Life is about experiences and sharing the moments. This car gets all the attention a good looking lady should get!”

What do you know about its history?

“I’m the third owner and purchased the car from my brother-in-law. He purchased it in North Carolina from the original owner who custom ordered from Dodge. Dodge made 700 Detonator Yellow examples in 2010, 350 of those with a six speed.”

How does it go?

“Here in the States the car required a $1300 ‘Gas Guzzler Tax’ – it’s on the window sticker. Money well spent as it likes to eat pavement. For a stock vehicle Dodge has reborn the muscle cars of past.” Anything you’d like to add?

“Words like overhead cam, double-barrel carburettors, raised manifolds and headers were like cake at a birthday party for me. If I could t 50s on the back and drop it down so it could corner I was going to do it. Life is about nding your passion, enjoying it and sharing with the next person. At an early age muscle cars fascinated me and at 55 I’m still enjoying the old and new ones. There’s nothing better than down-shifting from fth to third at 75mph and letting her eat! For the record at 130 in fourth she was still pulling.”
