TCM’s crashfest Adelaide season opener and the Albert Park weekend that wasn’t

Adam Bressington’s 2020 TCM Campaign could not have got off to a better start, the Camaro driver scoring overall victory in the season opener in Adelaide to grab the early series lead.

To bag the points lead and victory in the rst race of the season – Bressington’s rst win in more than 12 months – was a case of perfect timing as the NSW driver is still to secure sufficient funding to complete the full season.

It was an incident-packed opening round, the carnage commencing at the very rst corner of the rst race as John Bowe made a rare error under brakes that triggered a multi-car melee. Bowe apologised on national TV afterwards, and was docked 30 championship points.

Jason Gomersall and Jim Pollicina made it a Torana LX two-three, with Cameron Tilley’s Valiant Pacer, now running Hemi-six power once more, in fourth.

Ryan Hansford’s Torana LX had been one of the casualties of the rst corner chaos, but the next day Hansford recovered to score a dramatic win. Storming through the TCM eld from 14th on the grid, Hansford grabbed the lead from Bressington just three corners from the ag. Tilley was third this time, from Adam Garwood’s Camaro.

Hansford did it again in the Sunday 10-lap nale, heading home Bressington once more as Bowe recovered to claim third place.
